Waffle recipe trends that are worth your time

The waffle made a comeback this year! Waffle knit sweats, waffle cereal, waffle recipes, and waffle machine innovative hacks. Those mini waffle makers keep popping up on my Instagram explore page, and they are not with waffle batter inside! I’m talking breakfast, lunch, dinner leftovers, and dessert options.

This trend is really out of the box, and I’m all for it! Below is a roundup of waffle recipes and tips on how to use your waffle maker to make anything appealing to your kids. These are the ones you should know, the ones that are worth your time.

Breakfast:

Hash Brown Waffles: Frozen hash browns make this soo easy. Simply thaw a pack of hash browns and add some salt, garlic, and 2 beaten eggs. Spray your waffle maker and press a layer of the potatoes inside. You can also sprinkle some cheese on top and add more hash brown batter on top (optional).  Close and let bake until brown and crispy!

Egg Frittata Waffles: Start by sautéing vegetables over the stove. While they are cooking, beat your eggs with salt, and pepper. Add your vegetables into the eggs and pour them into the waffle maker. Sprinkle cheese (optional), cover, and let cook! There you have your egg frittata in the form of a waffle!

Lunch/Dinner:

Mac and Cheese Waffles: Start by cooking noodles or pasta according to the box instructions. Once they are prepared, heat up your waffle maker and spray with nonstick cooking spray. Layer noodles on the bottom, spread sauce and cheese, and add a layer of noodles on top. Cover and cook until the cheese is melted through and gets crispy to hold the waffle form! Stuffed pizza waffle: Spray your waffle maker with nonstick cooking spray. Flatten a piece of ready made pizza dough (or frozen rhodes dough works well too) and press it into the waffle maker. Spread sauce and cheese on top and cover with another piece of flattened dough. Bake until the cheese melts and the dough is fully cooked through. Viola!

Panini waffle recipe: Make your favorite panini sandwich or quesadilla wrap. Bake in the waffle machine until cooked through and waffle shaped. This is such a fun changeup to a classic!

Leftovers and sides.

Fried rice waffle recipes: My personal favorite and most versatile. Mix rice and dinner leftovers in a bowl. Vegetables and chopped chicken work perfectly for this. Add a beaten egg and your favorite seasonings. Use this as batter in a heated waffle maker. Cook until crispy and dig in!

Fried Pickle Chaffle trend: This is a total trend for deep fried pickle lovers. Layer the bottom of the waffle maker with shredded cheese, spread your favorite pickles on top, and cover with cheese. Cook through until the cheese is fully melted and crispy! Fried pickles are usually breaded and deep fried, so these are a little better for you! They are also keto approved.

Waffle breadsticks: Press frozen pizza or dinner roll dough in a greased waffle maker. Let bake until cooked through and golden brown. Cut the bread waffles lengthwise into sticks. Serve alongside soup or stew.

Dessert:

Brownie Waffles: Bake your brownies in a waffle machine instead of an oven! They are much quicker to bake and come out in the cool waffle design.

Waffle fruit: Cut your favorite stone fruits into similar size slices and toss with brown sugar (or coconut sugar), cinnamon, and a little bit of lemon juice. Layer in a greased waffle machine and cover until they are soft, hot, and have waffle marks. Don’t press down too hard on these, just let them cook through. Top with a scoop of ice cream, greek yogurt, or crumble and enjoy immediately!
